Assists with the delivery of “Be FireWise and Maui Tinei Ahi” school programmes for year 1 and 2 children. This programme has been developed in partnership with teachers so that education about fire safety will be a professional and enjoyable experience.
“Be FireWise and Maui Tinei Ahi” presents a teaching programme on fire safety for use with the health and physical education curriculum. The programme can be taught alone but it is intended to be supported by a visit from local firefighters. All background information required to teach is provided free.
A Fire Intervention and Awareness programme is provided for parents who are having problems with children who have a fascination with, or who light fires. This is to assist parents to overcome the problem of child fire lighting.
