Thank you for visiting our  Internet site. As a Primary Health Organisation, we want to give you the opportunity to learn about what we do for the Kaikohe Community to support healthy lifestyles and improve the wellbeing of our people.

In brief, you should know the following about us: we are a Charitable Trust established in 2003 and are responsible for providing primary health services to the enrolled population of Kaikohe and community.

PHOs are organisations that plan, coordinate and pay for health care in the community. PHOs always involve General Practice services and are increasingly involving other providers such as community nurses, pharmacists, dentists and other health care groups.

PHOs will provide all the services you are used to but also aim to improve health by:

Being enrolled with a PHO means that funding is made available to your family medical centre to care for you and your family/whanau. Depending on your age and where you live, you can access cheaper doctor visits and pharmacy prescriptions

Enrolment takes place at your usual family medical centre - the staff there will talk with you about enrolment, what it involves and what it means for you and your family/whanau.

Remember that you can only enrol with one medical centre. If you choose to visit an alternative medical centre you will not be eligible to receive the cheaper fees and this will result in your family medical centre incurring a charge for that visit.
